Beware the Ides of March….

As the title would indicate, we’re sailing through the 3rd month of the modern calendar year (I didn’t post a blog for February – we posted all the new links to the audio books in lieu of my monthly dissertation on the finer points of my life currently) but this month, we’re going to have a moment of learning and more input as to how this applies to my current situation.
The ides of the month (any month during the Roman era) was the mid-point of the month; and although we only ever hear about the “Ides of March” (thanks to Shakespeare), each and every month experiences a mid-point that is ruled by the Roman god Jupiter and marks the “ides” as a symbol of religious observation, sacrifice, and since the assassination of Julius Caesar, a harbinger of doom.
Now, March, named after the god Mars (a warring god who was the protector of Rome and the Roman way of life) was, at this time, the actual first month of the new year (we will have a discussion in a later blog about the upending of the roman calendar during the 1600’s and 1700’s when the world began to adopt the Gregorian calendar, but I digress…) and the roman civilization experienced much celebration at the start of a new year.
I’ve said all that to make this simple point (as it relates to my life): March is like the beginning of a new life, a new purpose, a new direction for me this year. I am really in tune to the Roman’s celebration of the turning of the page into a new year because I’m experiencing all of those “new” things for myself in 2025.
A new pad (a downsizing experience), a new vehicle, a new job, and a new outlook on the opportunities and possibilities that are presenting themselves to me as I move through the month of March.
It’s hard to feel as though the ides of this March might be a harbinger of doom because I’m feeling pretty elated at this point. As I’m writing this, we’ve moved on past the mid-point of the month, so maybe any opportunity for doom and gloom has come and gone and completely missed my humble pad in the process.
I’ve been really excited about the new audio version of my books, and am hoping that this year brings some much needed attention from new readers – the audience of readers that would rather listen than actually read, or who simply do not have the opportunity to sit and hold a book, but love to consume story material.
If you enjoy friendship, if you’ve wandered far down life’s path and find yourself many miles from home, you might enjoy “Women of the Ozarks, The Scrapbook Series” and it might remind you that it’s never too late to start a new chapter, revisit a childhood home, or rekindle an old friendship.
Well, that’s about all I have this month – next month we’ll be moving into the downsized pad, and I’m sure I’ll have plenty of aches, pains, and philosophical points to make about my efforts at relocation, so stay tuned!
And so, until next month dear reader, stay safe, happy and well read!
Natalie
